Default Ok...need PVE build help

I hate how every single 'good' build out there uses 6 out of 8 skills you cant get til level 20; and how so many of them suck til you're level 15+...

now, I know it isn't hard to get to level 20 by jus following the storyline quests and all that, and I've heard a million times that 'any build can kill any mob' BUT THAT ISNT THE POINT! that is the same as saying "well...you CAN kill a group of 3 mo/me's 3 air ele's and 2wa/mo's with any group you put together" ...sure its possible, but that doesnt mean anything, cause it would be 99% luck and stuff...(also, I know I'm exaggerating)

what I need help with, is a build that is good from pre-searing all the way to the fire islands... what class combo/ build(s) would have the EASIEST time through the game...

I was thinking Ra/Ele cause Rangers can take dmg pretty good, attack from range, and then with Ele, go fire for AoE stuff...it turns out to be more or less satisfactory, and certainly not what I was looking for...

please, if you're thinking of replying to this thread with anything like 'no class combo will be able to just clear any map with ease' etc. ...I just want a discussion (or help, whichever) on finding what class combo etc. would have the easiest time doing this...I'm not looking for a 'God Mode' kinda class combo...

Go for a healing monk
- you'll hardly die
- you'll be wanted in parties
will be easy.

You will not be using the same build from pre-searing to fire islands, at least not if you're good.

Your build will change as you get different items, and it will change as you get different skills. What you said about the better builds requiring later skills is true, the skills you start out with cut it early on, but you will have to move on to bigger and better things when possible. If you're a mesmer, you should be changing your build almost ever mission, to stack yourself against what you expect to have trouble with.

As far as class combos go, as much as you insisted we not give this answer, all class combos will have an equally easy time of it, except an el or monk primary, both of whom will have an easier time of soloing the very early game in post searing ascalon. That leave class desirability in groups as the last consideration, and monks have alot of that, though I still can't recommend them unless you like staring at health bars going up and down and not actually getting to see the missions.

As far as ranger/el goes, you'll want to ignore your elementalist skills until late game, when you have access to elemental bows to use with the conjure spells or start getting the high end water spells, many of which go very well with ranger hit 'n runs and long ranged mayhem, and at a lower energy cost then the other lines. Even only using the ranger line though, you really will have just as easy a time through the game as anyone else.

Edit: ok, it occurs to me that I might as well give an answer based on what I found to be easiest.
My ranger/necro was by far the easiest of my characters to lvl in pve, due to the fact that I got mark of pain, dual shot, and distracting shot all very early on, and I could use those together, along with the pets attacks continuously trigger mark of pain, completely destroying packed mobs in seconds. It doesn't take long to figure out how to bunch the mobs either. To maximize effect, take the warrior and archer henches, and call target on your mark of pained mob so they focus fire.

thank you Morganas...

...what about a W/N? same sorta concept...only with melee (obviously)...I only say this cause, with war you get endure pain pretty early on, as well as sprint which is useful to getting to places and for completing quests...but the healing wouldn't be as good, along with the elemental resists...hmm

if your a monk .... lemme help ya out here. At Lions Arch I had the skills I needed. Balthazaars Spirit, Reversal, Symbol of Wrath, Orison, Breeze, (for yourself healing touch, if grouped with others dwaynas kiss), Retribution ... sometimes bane signet ... this was my farming build. I went from level 12 monk to level 17 almost overnight. If grouped in a party of course your gonna throw out a heck alot of smite in for healing .... thats more for advancing story line don't forget to stop by fishermans haven.

EDIT *********** MY BAD ****************

sorry for some silly reason I was under the impression you were monk primary ... with a ranger you cant really solo all that effectively. My primary character is a R/* usually mesmer. Although easy with henchmen because you never get aggro'd until the end rangers make the poorest solo farmers imho (speaking from exp.) ... I even did better with my warrior than my rangers ... so its best to play with henchies for this profession. My most effective pve builds revolved around DOT which completely annhilated any chance of and enemy healing himself. Not as effective imo in pvp but in pve ... its makes the game run smoothly.

Early on soloing was easy, it just gets progressively harder, and soloing your way through the storyline (that is, without henchmen) is impossible. If you're referring to solo farming, I found that if I specced beast mastery, curses, and expertise (no marksmanship, just use the low bow dmg to trigger mark of pain) I could take on large groups of high lvl melee mobs solo, and use barbs to finish the first target (with mark of pain, the mob you cast it on is usually the last to die).

I could also spec wilderness survival and expertise to solo run through certain missions like elona reach, always a nice thing to be able to do.

My tip is going to be do all the quests found http://cleaned.beyondunreal.com/temp...wardQuests.htm as you will get a lot of good skills as you play that way.

I dont have to be an anything primary, and im not necessarily talking about farming anything at all...farming, ya sure, but just plain ole getting through the game...

and i know its impossible to beat the missions solo, but what class combo would come closest and whatnot? as in fewest henchies etc. for as long as possible

Most skills you find early on are ones that you'll be using when you've beaten the game and are pvping in the tomb of primevil kings. If you really want to comprimise your favorite class for being able to beat the game... you might as well do a monk, a warrior, or an elementalist. Those are most sought after, and each party thinks they need at least one of each.

Build that is good all the way through with skills that are available early ?

El/Mo, Fire/Energy Storage/Healing

Flare, Lava Font, Firestorm, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Orison of Healing, Healing Breeze, Ressurect +1 other.

It could be better, but it will keep you going until you get to bigger and better things (Meteor Storm in Ascalon Settlement f.ex).
